Judith “Judie” Marie (Smith) Barrett, 72, passed away peacefully with family at her side on the 8th of November 2024 at Mercy House in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Born in Harrisburg, PA, Judie was the daughter of David & Anna Messinger.

Judie enjoyed a 30-year career with Montgomery County Adult Probation & Parole where she was a Data Processing Coordinator and Instructor. She was also employed at Camp Hill Department of Corrections and at Select Medical Sports Therapy Center after her retirement from Montgomery County.

She was an avid sports fan of all Philadelphia Teams. She would often tell stories of meeting many coaches and players and having been an integral part of the Philadelphia Flyers Fan Club and voting committee naming the Philadelphia Phantoms. Judie also loved reading novels and watching movies of which she had a vast library of each. She also loved to do artwork.

Judie had seven siblings, Bruce, Patricia, Victoria, John, Norman, George & Charles.

Surviving Judie is her son, Marc Garman (wife Michele), grandson, Trevor Garman, granddaughter, Julia Garman, sister, Patricia Bailey, brother, Bruce Smith (wife Connie), brother, John Messinger (wife Phyllis), brother Norman Messinger (wife Sue), brother, George Messinger (wife Judy), brother-in-law, Michael Peck and many nieces, nephews & cousins.

She will rejoin loved ones including her parents David & Anna, sister Victoria Peck, brother, Charles Messinger and brother-in-law, Robert Bailey.

On Saturday November 30, 2024 at 10:30AM greetings will be followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (6839 Wertzville Rd, Enola, PA 17025).
