Born in Harrisburg on September 14, 1941, he was the son of the late Robert D. Stone and Mary (Fry) Stone. Jim was a 1960 graduate of Harrisburg High School. After high school, Jim served eight years in the United States Air Force, including service in Southeast Asia. A proud veteran, Jim was a recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.
After being honorably discharged, Jim was employed in many different positions throughout his life, including security, warehouse, and machine work. In his retirement, Jim enjoyed fishing, listening to music, watching movies and Steelers football, dining out, and spending time with his family. Jim was a devout Christian.
Jim is currently survived by his former wife, Janet Stone of Sterling Heights, MI, and their two sons: Robert D. Stone of Pontiac, MI; and Jeffrey Stone and his wife Heather (Margerum) Stone of Pottsville, along with their son James R. Stone. He is also survived by daughter Lori Braa, Sioux Falls, SD, and her two children Jordan Braa of Middleton, WI, and Kayla Buono of Blue Bell, PA, along with five great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his fiance Eleanor Putt, of Harrisburg and his sister Susan Scott of Harrisburg. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annvillle. Though he is gone, Jim will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
