Bernard “Bud” F. Curran Jr., age 63, of Harrisburg, beloved husband of 40 years to Maria (DeFalco) Curran, ended his courageous battle with Glioblastoma and entered peaceful rest on March 13, 2018, at Hershey Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Bernard Sr. and Anna Curran and was born on September 3, 1954 in Harrisburg. Bud was a devoted father to two boys, Dan and Joe and a proud poppy to his grandchildren, Garrett and Grace.
Given Bud’s passion for the Philadelphia Phillies, he began coaching baseball at the age of 19. His commitment to being a role model led him to be a Cub Scout leader to Pack 36, a member of Saint Margaret Mary’s School Board, and a member of the Susquehanna Township High School Booster Club. Bud was proud to serve his community as a State Capital Police officer for almost two decades, during which time he served as President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 85.
Bud is survived by his wife, Maria Curran, his sons, Dan Curran (and wife, Michelle) of Harrisburg and Joe Curran (and wife, Meryl) of New York City, his grandchildren, Garrett Curran and Grace Curran, his brother, Jim Curran (and wife Liz) of Wormleysburg, his sisters, Pat Damon of Harrisburg and Karen Moses of Hershey, as well as countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, March 19th from 6-8pm at Neill Funeral Home (3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111) and on Tuesday at 10am for a viewing followed by a Mass at Saint Margaret Mary Church (2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112).
