John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Raymond Eldon Smith was born in Hot Springs, later named Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico on February 2, 1939 and he died on August 2, 2018.
At age 22, Raymond married Rosie Nell Lawley in July of 1961. Raymond first worked for the National Geological Society surveying the San Andreas Fault Line. After that, he worked for the Bureau of Reclamation surveying the California Aqueduct for 20 years until 1983. After the earthquake, Raymond went around doing various handiwork for different contractors and assisting elderly with yard work and servicing air conditioners. Raymond and Rosie were also known for their services to the citizens of Coalinga in delivering the Coalinga Record for 25 years.
Raymond is survived by this three children, Judy Smith, Jack Smith, and Jan Plott and her husband Leroy. Raymond is also survived by his one and only granddaughter Jennifer Rose; his siblings Marylou Lyons, Jane Rasmussen, and Clyde Smith. Raymond is proceeded by his parents Faye Marie and Roy Lester Mann and seven siblings (Bill Delco, Betty Van Gundy, Suzanne Roe, Dorthy Smith, John Smith, Paul Smith, and Bruce Mann).
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10 am at Pleasant Valley Cemetery 40054 Calaveras Avenue in Coalinga, CA. A celebration of Raymond’s life will immediately follow at The Eagles Lodge 156 W. Durian Ave., Coalinga.
