Mom would have celebrated her 88th birthday on Saint Patrick’s Day.
She was born in 1926 at the Hanford Sanitarium to the late Alma Helen Schumacher and Frank Berthyl “Micky” LaMoine. She graduated from Hanford High School in 1944 and received a Liberal Arts Degree from Holmby College in 1946 in Los Angeles.
Patricia’s ancestors settled in Hanford during the 1870's, and her father established the LaMoine Drug Store which remained in business long after his death. She was a member of the Hanford Episcopal Church of the Savior for many years where her mother was baptized as well as herself, her children and her grandchildren.
Patricia married Joseph Owen Hopper in 1951 and they resided in Hanford where their three children were born and raised: Ann LaMoine Miller (Bill) of Paso Robles and William Duff Hopper (Annie) of Clovis, California. Her son, Joseph “Jeff” Foster Hopper died in a car accident in 1977.
Although Patricia was a homemaker during her life, she was actively involved in many local volunteer activities throughout the years including Kings Art Center and Kings Guild representing Children’s Hospital.
Patricia is also survived by her sister, Janet Hopkins, her grandchildren, Lauren Katherine Miller, Pamela LaMoine Miller Castellanos (Alec), Emily Ann Thomas (Justin) and Samuel Duff Hopper and her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth LaMoine Thomas.
Mom liked to have fun. She loved her friends, her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and she was getting to know her great-granddaughter “Lizzie”. She loved to travel, and she and Dad joyfully traveled the world with many of their friends. She loved to throw parties and she loved to play bridge.
She died peacefully at home, just the way she wanted.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Hanford Cemetery; 10500 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230.
