Mary Ellen Hinton 82, an Armona and Hanford resident for 66 years passed away on January 24, 2013 at Kaweah Delta Medical Center. Mary was born in Hunters, Washington on May 17, 1930 to Lawrence & Reba Lakey.
As a young woman Mary worked in the Cannery in Armona where she met her future husband Jack Hinton. She returned to Hanford High and received her diploma in 1969 at the age of 39. Mary continued her education and received her Real Estate License at the age of 50 and worked as an agent for 20 years.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Jack Hinton, three brothers Junior Lakey, Kenny Lakey and Casey Lakey and one sister Ann Mayfied.
She is survived by her daughters Janice Oaxaca & husband Frank of Sanger, Barbara King & husband Darrell of Bakersfield, sister-in-law Norma Lakey of Visalia and her little dog "Annie" who was her best friend and companion. Grandchildren, Chris Oaxaca of Clovis, Sean Oaxaca of San Marcos, Michael and Jerrod King of Bakersfield and seven great grandchildren .
Graveside service is scheduled Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Grangeville Cemetery 10428 14th Ave. Armona Ca. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the Stonecliffe Animal Rescue http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/CA1005.html
