Mary O. Hernandez

Mary Ortez Hernandez of Hanford died on December 20, 2013 at the home of her daughter Helen in Visalia, Ca. Helen and Kourtnee were at her side when she passed. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was born on February 20, 1925 to Jose and Luisa Ortiz. Mary attended local schools in Hanford, where she met the love of her life Ted Hernandez. She worked for Rubalcava Bakery then when Rubalcava Restaurant opened she stated there being the only waitress.

She was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church; Catholic Daughters of America Mary loved to cook, garden, travel and spend time with her family. She was always on the go. She taught all her grandkids how to make tortillas and eat chili. She enjoyed working in her garden taking care of her beautiful flowers giving plants to her family, friends and neighbors.

Mary is survived by her husband of 70 years Ted M. Hernandez, daughters Helen Rogers of Visalia. Betty Trimble of Hanford, Son Ted R. Hernandez of Hanford. Grandchildren Shirley Pope of Exeter, Jackie Trimble of Hanford, Dr. Teddi Lynn Hernandez of Brooklyn, NY, Tyler Hernandez of Hanford. Great-Grandchildren Kevin Pope Jr. of Visalia, Kourtnee Pope of Visalia, Frankie Carrasco of Burbank and Ryenne Trimble of Hanford and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Sal, Bob, John, Ralph and Jess Ortiz. Son-in-laws Delbert Malone and Wayne J. Rogers. Great-Granddaughter Carlee E. Carrasco, nephews Willie and Leonard Hernandez.

We would like to thank Kaweah Delta Private Home Care, Visalia Valley Caregivers, Fresno and Optimal Hospice Care Visalia. All The nurses and CNA who cared for mom especially Susan, Vanessa and Dr. Nelson Rodriguez of Fresno.

Visitation will be January 2, 2014 from 5-6 followed by the Rosary at 6 pm at People’s Funeral Chapel. Mass will be officiated at 11 am on January 3, 2014, St. Brigid Catholic Church.
