Lois was born on May 23, 1924 in Evanston, Wyoming to her parents David Calder and Ida Irene Merritt. She grew up on a farm and enjoyed the fun of living near Bear Lake in the small town of Garden City, Utah. She married Eugene Stock Erickson in the LDS temple in Logan, Utah and became the proud mother of five daughters.
Mom was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed sewing, making crafts, working on humanitarian aid projects, telling jokes, laughing, and giving wise advice to her daughters, sons-in-law, and to her many grandchildren. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and passed her faith on to her posterity through her humble example and firm belief in the gospel.
Lois’ greatest desire was to bring her family together for one more reunion. This wish was realized in the summer of 2012 when over 90 members of her posterity gathered from over 14 states, and Afghanistan to spend a week together in the mountains of California.
She is survived by her children; Carol Anderson of Carson City, Nevada, JoAnn and Ronald Scholz of Hanford, California, Rayma and Wayne Leach of Moreno Valley, California, Kathy and Jerry Farmer of Midland, Texas and Jane and Craig Lawrence of Waldorf, Maryland and a brother; Robert Calder of Garden City, Utah. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother, two grandchildren, and her beloved husband, Eugene.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-5591.
