Karen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many callings. She was born on March 5, 1942 in Forest Grove, OR to Allan and Edna Nickell where she spent her childhood. She graduated in 1960 from High School in McMinnville, OR. After graduation, Karen attended the Oregon Institute of technology at Klamath Falls, OR where she studied Medical Technology and earned her certification two years later. She then worked in the medical field in Portland, OR for several years until her and Jack were united in marriage on December 15, 1970 in Tigard, OR. Karen was a truly gifted and talented person who excelled in many different ways. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting and was an excellent floral designer; a field in which she worked for several years. Prior to retirement, she worked several years at Artisans Art Gallery in Hanford as a sales consultant and matted and framed artwork. Karen possessed an attracting personality, was cheerful, kind, thoughtful and just being around her couldn’t help but make you have a feeling of wellbeing. Christmas by far was her favorite holiday; decorating her home brought her much joy; bringing out the true spirit of Christmas. After retirement, she and Jack made several trips throughout the USA and her favorite get a way place was Avila Beach, CA. She had been suffering from ovarian cancer for the past two years.
