James Paul Weigand

James Paul Weigand was born to Paul and Rita Weigand on Dec 27, 1940 in Buffalo, New York. He passed away on October 31, 2024. Jim was devoted to his family, teaching/coaching and his faith. He was a patient, loving and generous man.

Jim was raised in New York and left to attend college. He attended Montclair State University and then transferred to Northeast Missouri State Teachers College where he received his Master’s Degree in Teaching. He ran track for both colleges and had much success, even running in the Olympic trials.

He moved out west for a teaching job in Stratford, California and continued to teach there for 38 years. He met his wife, Gale, in 1970. They married soon after and raised 3 children in Hanford, CA. They were married until her passing in 2015.

Jim is survived by his children, grandchildren, and very recent great granddaughter. Cassie & Frank Golden and their three children Rachel, Kaitlyn, and Andrew. Erika & Jason Todd and their three children and spouses. Tristan & Danielle and daughter Brighten, Logan & Cameron, and Gavin. Nathan & Korina Weigand and their two children Evan and Madilyn.

He is also survived by his brothers Robert Weigand and Richard & Denise Weigand, Mary Bruce, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He has requested no flowers. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Episcopal Church of the Saviour Soup Kitchen (519 N Douty Street, Hanford, CA) or charity of your choice.

A Graveside service will be held on November 16th at 10:00am at Grangeville Cemetery (10428 14th Avenue, Armona, CA). Reception to follow at First Lutheran Church in Hanford.
