David Vincent Church, 61, born on August 28, 1955 in Hanford Ca. went hunting in God’s country on March 21, 2017. After a long hard courageous battle against pancreatic cancer, he passed unexpectedly from complications of an infection.
Dave was a farmer working their farm Church Family Farms in Guernsey with his brother Chuck.
Dave never met a stranger, he could have a conversation with anyone, some of those strangers became good friends.
Dave loved hunting and fishing, especially with his brother Chuck. He was an avid 49ers and Giants fan. He was a 34-year member of the Hanford Elks Club.
Dave enjoyed BBQs, cooking, canning and gatherings with family and friends. He enjoyed having a beer with his friends and engaging in lively conversation was one of his favorite things to do. He loved to laugh, tell jokes and sing some old limericks. One special gathering was a steak BBQ at his home for his cousins Mats and Anki Ahlander who were visiting from Sweden.
Dave was preceded in death by his father Harold Church and his mother Elizabeth Church Xavier, grandparents Ivar and Ingeborg Helfer, Charles and Pearl Church, uncle Robert Giacomazzi and uncle Vincent Church. He survived by his brother Charles Church (Jolean), Jonna Drugich, the love of his life Zelma Silva, nephew Charles Guy Church (Megan) great nephew Jaxson and great niece Callie, niece Becky Church (Ken) aunt Eunice Giacomazzi, cousins Louis Giacomazzi (Janet), William Giacomazzi (Kelly) Karen Wills (Glen). Cousins Nedra Church and Margaret Salyer and their families. Extended family Zulmira Silva, Frank Silva (Teri) great nephews Isaac and Tony, Joe Silva (Rosemary), niece Amber Silva (Gabe) great niece Sabrina and great nephew Fabian, niece Amy Silva. His beloved lab Elora, cats Elroy and Emmalee, they brought him great joy. Numerous cousins and extended family members.
Dave will be dearly missed by many friends and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 1st at 11:00 am at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N Douty St, Hanford. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made in David’s honor to a cancer charity of your choice.
