Anthony F. Rogers, Jr. "Pop"

Anthony F. Rogers, Jr. "Pop", 93 was born in Hanford on July 18, 1921 to Anthony F. Rogers, Sr. and Emilia Thomas Rogers. He passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at home in Hanford with his family at this side.

He lived in Hanford his entire life, graduating high school in 1939, and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1941.

Pop married the love of his life, Betty Jean Freeman, in 1944. They raised two sons during their lives together, enjoying hunting and fishing trips with friends and family.

He was employed by Beacon Oil Co. for many years, receiving the Safe Driver award for driving more than 1.4 million miles without an accident or receiving a traffic citation.

Sadly, Pop lost Betty after 35 wonderful years. He married Evelyn Serpa Schwenk in 1982 and after 24 years of marriage Evelyn passed.

Pop is preceded in death by his parents, his wives, two brothers, Joe and Tommy Rogers and a sister, Amy Gardner.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons; Jim and Karen Rogers, David and Darla Rogers, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Anthony’s Life will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-5591. A Private Burial will be held at a later date at Three Rivers Public Cemetery in Three Rivers, California.
