Thomas Redmond Harrison

Thomas Redmond Harrison went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday May 3 at his home. Tom was born in Beargrass, NC on February 29,1920 as one of 12 children. During his time with the US Navy he served on the USS Adams during WW2 performing mine sweeping duties in the Pacific. After leaving the service he moved to Hampton where he was employed at Ft Monroe as the Shop Supervisor of Post Engineers until his retirement at age 54. He chose to serve the Lord as an active member of Memorial Baptist Church, as a deacon, head of the Building and Grounds Committee, choir member, Sunday School teacher, and Chairman of the Audio Committee. He also loved serving as the Gideon Bible distribution chairman.
He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Kay of 52 wonderful years and is survived by Phil Harrison and his wife Sherry of Oklahoma ; Tom Eaton and his wife Beata of Italy; TR Harrison and his wife Susie of Hampton, and Gerry Eaton Deas and her husband Danny of South Carolina; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. Tom was a loving Dad, husband, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 8 at Memorial Baptist Church, 317 Lee St, Hampton, VA 23669. A celebration of life will follow at 10 a.m., officiated by his grandson, the Rev. Tyler Redmond Harrison and the Rev. Lawrence J Biermann.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Memorial Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.
