Stephen Douglas Hensley

He was a Dock Master for the City of Newport News and prior, he retired as a Captain with the Hampton Fire Department. As a veteran of the United States Army, he served in the Vietnam War where he was a highly decorated Ranger, and obtained the rank of Staff Sargent. He was a member of the American Legion.

Preceding him in rest is his father, Carl Hensley. Surviving members of his family include his wife of 14 years, Tracey A. Hensley; daughters, Marcia O’Donnell and husband Shaun, Kimberly Hensley, Shaunna Lorditch and husband Jason; grandchildren, Michael Hensley, Jessica Hensley, Aidan O’Donnell, and Sierra O’Donnell; mother, Nora O’Keefe Hensley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andy and Jan Andrews; sister-in-law, Debbie Diggs; nephew, Andrew Diggs; and numerous cousins and extended family members. Also important in his life are his faithful furry companions, Truman and Frankie who are deceased, and Toby, Caysea, and Chance who survive him.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Stephen's life will be held Friday, April 15, at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
