Ramonito “Toto Diotay” Pama Gayotin passed at age 65 on May 16, 2023, at his home in Newport News, Virginia. He will be honored and remembered by his surviving wife, three children, six sisters, brother, and his family and friends in the United States and in the Philippines.
Ramon or Toto Diotay was born on March 30, 1958, in Kabankalan City of Negros Occidental, PH. He lived a simple life in his youth, and he had plenty of stories of farm life, climbing trees, and fishing. In his teens, he took interest in martial arts, basketball, and track & field.
With the support of his loving sisters, he moved to Angeles City, Pampanga, PH in his early adulthood to complete his studies. He studied at Regional Central Colleges in Pampanga, PH and later in Angeles University Pampanga, PH. He received scholarships from his talents in track & field and basketball where he competed in multiple events, including a track meet on Clark Air Base to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and a marathon from Angeles City to Baguio City.
He met his wife, Marissa, while they were living in Angeles City. They married, and he fathered three children, but unfortunately, one passed away. He then relocated to the US to be with his mother and sisters and to provide for his family in the Philippines. With his hard work, he moved his wife and children to the US after becoming a US citizen. He later fathered one more child to add to his family, and he lived a fulfilling life with them, tending to his garden, and painting landscapes.
We remember Ramon “Toto Diotay” as a loving father, brother, son, and friend with a competitive spirit and a passion for anything he did. He had a strict look, but a humorous, witty heart, and he was physically strong, bold, and brave. He was a person with a big appetite for seafood, action movies, and soft rock music, and he was a creative soul with many talents.
A private, family celebration will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a chapel service at 2:00 PM, and an entombment at Parklawn Memorial Park.
Pa, we love you. We will miss you, and when life gets tough, we will hear you say “Tara Nak” to help us push through.
