Maxine A. Allison, 79, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, July 19, 2012, due to complications after surgery at Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk.
Maxine was born on June 10, 1933 in Sylvatus, VA. She was a Peninsula resident for 60 years after marrying, the love of her life, Bernard W. Allison. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3219 where she served as Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard W. Allison; parents, Hobart and Blanche Richardson; and siblings, Harvey Richardson, Ray Richardson, Clara Dillard and Raymond Richardson. She is survived by her daughters, Stella A. Harris and husband Gary of Yorktown, and Michelle Allison of Hampton; granddaughters, Amanda Harris of Newport News, Brittany Henry and her husband Kenneth of Yorktown; sisters, Berta Jennings of Hillsville, VA, Collene White of Roanoke, VA, and O'neda Chrisley, Gertrude Akers and Freida White, all of Hillsville, VA; and multiple nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Maxine's life will be held Wednesday, July 25, at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
The family has requested that visits prior to the service be made at Stella's home at 216 Denise Drive, in Yorktown.
