Julia was born on January, 15, 1923 to Fred and Grace Holland in North Carolina. She was a long time resident of Newport News, Virginia. She married Vernon Mace in 1937 and had five children; Shirley, Glen, Patty, Lynda and Kenny.
Julia was a Godly woman who dedicated her life to the Lord. She was a faithful member of Warwick Assembly of God. She enjoyed driving to Hardee’s for a biscuit and coffee every morning and talking to her son every night.
Julia is survived by her sister, Annie Queen; her sons, Glen and Kenny Mace; granddaughter, Angie (Stevie); grandsons Woody, Richard Billy (Amy), Michael and Kenny Jr. (Tina); great-grandchildren, Jesse Jr. (Angelica), Thomas, Rhett, Alex, Bray, Brooke, Amber, Shannan, Kenny III (Chameka) and Derek; great-great-grandchildren, Jesse III, Jaxon, Kayla, Legion, Emersyn, Khali and Taylor; and lots of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Grace Holland; her first husband and love of her life, Vernon Mace, second husband Willie Bell; her two daughters Patty and Lynda; her daughter-in-law, Phyllis; her first born, Shirley; her brothers , Howard and Cecil; sisters, Dottie, Bert and Bernice.
Service to be officiate by her nephew, Michael Butler. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Parklawn Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
A gathering of family and friends for Julia will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. A graveside memorial service will occur Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 N Armistead Ave, Hampton, VA 23666.
