Jimmy B. Green, 72, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2010. He was a native of Burnt Corn, Alabama and resident of York County for 48 years. Jimmy was employed with Newport News Shipbuilding as a mechanical engineer in a supervisory position and retired in 1999 after 36 years of service. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and served as one of its Deacons. Jimmy enjoyed the outdoors - hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed his church activities, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was compassionate, caring, selfless and content during his walk on this earth. His fingerprints are on all he touched. We celebrate his life.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Georgia Green; and sister, Ree Byars. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of 53 years, Patricia A. Green; sons, Richard A. Messick and husband, Craig of Yorktown; grandchildren, Kyle Messick and wife, Sarah of Leesburg; Lauren Messick of Yorktown, Lexie Green of Fort Payne, AL, Bradley Green of Fort Payne, AL, and Kendall Green of Yorktown; and sister, Sara Baggett of Atmore, AL.
