On Monday, September 6, 2021, God’s precious daughter Janett Irene Soeken Burton was called home to Heaven and the glory of her Lord. She started her journey in this life on July 13, 1941, in St. John, Kansas. She was the second daughter to Helen Metz Soeken and Norman Soeken, and the younger sister of Norma Soeken Menke.
She spent her formative years on the family farm surrounded by a loving extended family. After graduating from high school, Janett and her best friend, Kay moved to Washington D.C. to pursue civil service jobs. There she met the love of her life James Burton, whom she married in October 1960. Upon marriage to Jim she gained three new brothers and three sister-in-laws, including her kindred sister Patricia Duncan. To this marriage was born three children: James Jr. (Linda-Marie), Timothy Edward (Catherine), and Cora Ann (Dale). Janett was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren include: Timothy Jr., Tabatha, Christina, Carla, Preston, Aubry, Tina and Stephan, all of who blessed her with ten great-grandchildren.
