Rose Roberson was born on September 16, 1932, in Hamilton County. Her parents were Elbert Tyson and Mary Ella Kissell. She was the youngest of seven children. Her brothers included Otis Tyson, J.W. Tyson, and Albert Tyson. Her sisters were Elva Hill, Violet Kemp, and Francis Keller.
Rose married the love of her life, Henry Roberson, on Christmas Eve, 1948. Together, they have two daughters, Carolyn Balzen and Mary Roberson. In addition, they raised a granddaughter, Deanna Johnston, as their daughter.
Rose spent a lifetime devoted to her family and faith. During her life, she worked hard, retiring at 87 years old.
Depending on how you knew her, Mrs. Rose, Aunt Rosie, Rose Ella, Mom, or Granny was the rock for many people. Her listening ear was available regardless of the time. We were never left to question her love for us. In a busy world, she knew the subtle signs of when she was emotionally needed, even when we insisted it was our turn to care for her. Her caregiving was never a burden, but an honor. She often reflected on all those she had cared for and loved, and how she would go back if she could. She reminded us to slow down because life goes too fast, and that we would want the moments back.
We love her dearly, and her wisdom is now in our hearts.
Rose is survived by her daughters Carolyn Balzen and Deanna Johnston (Josh). Grandchildren are Danitta (Justin) Witty, Karie Griffin (late Keith Griffin), Randy Wheeler (Peggy Williams), Melissa Wynne, Kenneth Wayne Balzen, Jason (Sarah) Balzen, April (Kasey) Kunkle, and Calvin and Weston Johnston. She also has many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition, she has many surviving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by all her siblings, her daughter Mary, and her husband, Henry.
Rose loved children, and believed that education, both in gaining knowledge and the experience of gaining knowledge, created the foundation for their life.
