Myrt (as best known) was born December 19, 1923, the fifth of eleven children of George Roy Massingill and Lenora Angeline Bass (Susie) Massingill in Coryell County. Myrt worked on the farm, attended Ireland School and graduated. After graduation she moved to Ft. Worth and went to work at Convair assembling aircrafts. She moved back to Hamilton and was married to James Cleo Thompson of which a son, James Robert Thompson, was born. She was later married to Roy Sidney Davis. Myrt worked at Pattys of Texas and later retired from Walls Industries. She was an excellent seamstress, cook, and loved her garden and flowers.
Myrt was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy Sidney Davis, son James Robert Thompson, step-sons Hugh Wayne Davis, Gene Davis and Bobby Davis. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers Evelyn Mae Thompson and husband Floyd, Totis Marie Robuck and husband Billy C, Iona Brawner and husband Tom , Rita Sue Craig, Virgil Wesley Massingill and wife Etheridge, Elton Leroy Massingill, Willis Dalton Massingill, Paul Edward Massingill, and brother-in-law Murlin Bottlinger.
Myrt is survived by a brother J.T. Massingill and wife Clydell, sister Mildred Bottlinger, sister-in-law Margaret Massingill, brother-in-law Tommy Craig and step-son Charles Davis and wife Jane, step-daughter-in-law Jimmy Davis and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
