Kenneth Frank Craig

Kenneth Frank Craig, 74, of Lanham Community, Hamilton County, Texas, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the KAC Ranch, Lanham Community, with Butch Rhodenizer officiating.

Ken was born August 25, 1946 in Hamilton, Texas to the late Henry Frank Craig and Mamie Lee Cates Craig. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1964. After graduation, Ken attended Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas. He obtained 90 hours when, as Ken called it, 'quituated,' opting for the workforce. Something that he regretted later in life because he said he did the work of an engineer for blue-collar pay. However, that did not hinder him from having a very successful career.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years Amye Oglesby Craig, children; Kenneth R. 'Skipper' Craig, Frank L. Craig and wife Stacie, Kameron Elizabeth Mantell and husband Travis, and Amye-Katherine Staton and husband Cade. Ken also took great pride in his three children that he raised and considered his own, Richard Craig, Ronnie Craig and Becky Vasquez. Numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also one sister, Katherine Craig, brother, and sister-n-laws that he considered as siblings.

Ken was a big man with a heart, goals, and ambitions to match.

He had absolutely no comprehension of the words, 'no', 'impossible' or 'cannot'. They simply did not exists in his world. He thrived on work and helping people. His phone rang 24/7 and he loved giving assistance and advice on equipment, building lakes and roads and anything else that his extensive knowledge and wisdom could impart to others. It was like watching poetry in motion to see his mind and hands turn his skills.

Ken was an entrepreneur and a businessman. There is not enough space to list all of his jobs, businesses and adventures. Most were quintessential achievements; but even the times that he failed, he would pick himself up and start building again. One of his favorite quotes was, "It is just money, we will make more tomorrow." Ken was Vice-President of 3D Crane and Rigging Corporation for many years before owning his own Heavy Equipment Construction Company for 30 years. After selling the company, he attempted retirement and soon realized that he could not be idle. He made a few phone calls and within a few hours, he was hired on with Romco Equipment Company, MPCS Division. As with every other venture in his life, he took great pride in his job and the men that worked with him. He worked, giving his co-workers clear and precise instruction from his phone, right up to his last hours of being on this earth. His dedication and enthusiasm was unparalleled.

Ken loved to share his personal experience of coming to know, believe in and love of our Almighty Father God.

One of his last conversations that he shared at our monthly Believers meeting was that he was looking forward to watching his grandchildren to see what they would become. He lived to see them walk through our backdoor or watch them on a video, doing their chosen activities. They were the light of his life.

He was a giant of a man, and he is going to leave a gigantic hole.
