Jerry was born in Dublin, Texas on December 23, 1942 to Cecil and Mignon Whitehead. Jerry graduated from Fairy High School before joining the US Army, Where he served in Vietnam.
He met and married the love of his life, Mary Ann Gandy, they later had two children, Danny and Sabrina Whitehead. As a kid he had a pet albino skunk, his love for odd pets grew as he got older and began to rescue baby squirrels. He named one of his pet squirrels Scrappy and enjoyed sharing his Cheetos and sweet tea while watching tv. Jerry enjoyed being with family and going to church, he spent most of his free time playing with his great grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife, Mary Ann; daughter, Sabrina Clark; a sister, Martha Blackwell. He is survived by his son, Danny Whitehead; two grandchildren, Chris Clark and Bridgette Taschek; brother Ted Whitehead; two sisters, Barbara Mckandless and Sandra Lane; four great grandchildren and lots of cousins, nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Jerry will be held Monday, January 29, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Riley Funeral Home, 402 West Main, Texas 76531. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Oakwood Cemetery, Hwy 281 North, Hamilton, Texas.
The family invites the community to join them at the Lions Club following the services to enjoy a Celebration of Life.
