Ivy Jo Whitehead, affectionately known to many as “Mrs. Ivy” went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday August 1, in Temple TX. following a brief illness, she was 67. “Mrs Ivy” was born in Fort Worth TX. on June 4, 1951 to Miss Nedra Farmer.
On September 14, 1968, “Mrs Ivy” married the love of her life, Ted Ray Whitehead. Together they shared the most amazing love and friendship which they cherished dearly for just shy of 50 years. The couple were blessed with two sons, Douglas Ray and Bradley Wayne and His fiancé Jamie.
Also surviving “Mrs. Ivy” are her twelve grandchildren Tasha, Brittaney, Blake, Todd, Mariah, Dylan, Janna, Jacoby, Carleigh, Sam, Jack and Trent. Eight great-grandchildren, Bailey, Alex, Tristan, Bethany, Braiden, Preston, Brantley, and Kobe. Also two sisters, Joy and Helen who were her best friends and partners in crime. ‘Mrs. Ivy’ was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews as well as an entire community of life long friends.
“Mrs Ivy” leaves a legacy of selfless giving and volunteer work. Her greatest pleasure was doing for others. She drove the HOP transit van in Hamilton for 23 years and touched the lives of young and old alike. She was perfectly suited for the job. Other charity and volunteer work included Salvation Army, Hamilton Livestock Show, Muscular Dystrophy, Hamilton Youth Athletics, numerous benefits and anywhere she could serve others. A celebration of Mrs Ivy's life was held on August 5, 2018 at Riley Funeral Home Chapel.
