Tom Zimmerman

Surrounded in love by his family on December 31, 2013 at the age of 64 years. Dear son of Mildred (the late Charles). Beloved father of Jennifer (Kieran) McGrath and Julie Zimmerman (Tyler Tekatch). Grandpa to Danika McGrath, Reece McGrath and the late Lily Zimmerman-Tekatch. Loving companion to Anne Grace for many years. Predeceased by his brothers Michael and Butch. Survived by sisters Marg, Patti (Rick), Leslie (Butch) and Terri (Bruce). Sadly missed by his large extended family and many friends. Tom was a proud member of the Ironworkers Local 736. To those who knew him, Tom was an outgoing, upbeat, kindhearted "Mr. Fix It." He was always offering to lend a hand wherever he saw it was needed. You couldn't visit Tom without hearing him say "Pop the hood, lets have a look" or “what kind of motor is in that?” Tom spent his final years enjoying his retirement in Selkirk, at his home by the lake where he valued the outdoors and great friends who jokingly referred to him as “the mayor”. He has left many fond memories for those who knew him. Family and friends will be meeting to share the memories of Tom at MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. and Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Tom's life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.
