We are comforted that he was able to be at home as he wished with his beloved wife Miriam (nee Reddy). Pat was born and raised in Pugwash, Nova Scotia and came to Hamilton, Ontario where he built a wonderful life. He spent most of his working years at AmCan Castings (formerly Barber Die Casting) and was the USW Local 4153 Treasurer. He was an active member of St John the Baptist Parish, Hamilton for over 40 years as well as a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society Hamilton Council.
Patrick was predeceased by his parents Florence and George, his brothers and sisters and their spouses Donald (Joan), Marion (Ralph Canning), Roland (Thelma), Bernard (Doreen), Rupert, Stella (Ivan Gullens), Irene Millett (Paul Kenney) and brothers in-law Ray Mingo, Hugh Smith, Brian Thom, Cyril Reddy and James Reddy. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Miriam, and children Rose (Ross Hammill), Barbara (Bill Parchem), Malinda (Chris Marttila), John (Amber Green) and Rob (Charlette), his sister Gladys Mingo; in-laws Yolande Lockhart, Mary Rose Smith, Roberta (Arnold Rovers), Judie Reddy, Pat Jessup, Frances (Cameron Chisholm), and Trish Reddy; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. He was an adored Papa who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Richard, Scott, Danielle, Sierra, Daniel, Noah, Liam, Matthew, Tristin, Evan, Brianna, Victoria, Linnea and Elliott.
We are grateful for the outstanding care that Patrick received over many years. Special thanks to Dr Bruno DiPaolo, Dr Hugh Sullivan, Dr Nathan Hambly, Dr Winemaker, and Erin and the Palliative Care Team at Bayshore.
Pat was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He was an avid reader who loved music, camping, the Blue Jays, the Maple Leafs, daily Sudoko, and he delighted in regularly winning family poker games. Pat was happiest being with family and friends and he took pride in everyone’s successes. We feel so incredibly fortunate that Pat was part of all our lives.
