Marie Michalak (nee Bodnariuck)

Beloved wife of the late Mitchell (2019). Predeceased by her parents Victoria and Theodore Bodnariuck, and sister-in-law Jennie Stuart (2023). Loving mother of Christine Pizzey, of Brantford, and Brian (Robin) Michalak, of Stoney Creek. Grandmama to Carlie (Aaron), Brad (Aileen), Christopher (Samantha), and Alexander; Grandmama-Mama to Great-Grandson Felix; and Aunt to Diana Newman. She will be remembered by very close friends and extended family in Hamilton, Ohio, B.C., and Toronto. Marie was a member of the Romanian Orthodox Church. She was a Founding Committee Member of the Hamilton Folk Arts Council, that started "It's Your Bag Day", now known as It's Your Festival. She was also a member of the Mohawk College Singers. Marie loved volunteering. Her favourites were the Aviary at Dundurn Castle, and the Hamilton General Hospital. Marie loved nature, animals and gardening. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie's honour can be made to The Royal Botanical Gardens, Hamilton, or to a charity of your choice. Visitation at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street E. (at Kenilworth) on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm with vigil prayers at 7:30pm. Funeral Service to take place at The Holy Resurrection Romanian Orthodox Church on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11am. A private family Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
