With heartfelt sadness, I announce the passing of my Mom, Lillian at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Although leaving a void in the life of daughter, she has returned home to be reunited with her beloved husband of 25 years, Harry. Lilian's passions included baking and travelling, the highlight of which was the realization of a lifelong dream to visit Egypt. She also deeply loved her "girls" (Pam's dear friends)Alice, Colette, Doreen, Margaret and Sheila. Lilian loved her adopted country of Canada. and will be fondly remembered by friends, including Dorothy and Gwen and many others whom she met during her association with the Hamilton YMCA Seniors Centre. In her native England, she will be fondly remembered by Cath, Dot, Jess and Kay. Although faced with many health challenges, Lilian led a full and happy life, until dementia claimed her in latter years. Thanks to all our friends who visited and phoned regularly and the staff of Willowgrove LTC especially the Flamborough Unit staff whose unyielding compassion was always evident. The dignity you afforded Mom is sincerely appreciated. Sincere thanks to the Palliative Care Team and staff at 4 CTU West at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, your compassion, and that of all the St. Joe's Family (Charlton Site) will always hold a special place in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a Food Bank of your choice would be most appreciated since that was a cause close to Lilian's heart. Private cremation.
