He passed away on Wednesday, May 18th, 2022 at St. Joseph's Healthcare at the age of 73. He will forever remain in the hearts of his dearest Alda Njiric, his beloved son Nicola Mercurio and his sisters (late Filomena & Corrado Recchiuti, Angela Fontana (late Franco), Clara and Lou Angelini, Vera Dodds, Sylvia Johnstone and many nieces, nephews and friends, especially his life long friend, Mario Piano.
Joseph is predeceased by his parents Nicola and Maria Mercurio, sister Filomena Recchiuti and brothers in law Corrado Recchiuti and Franco Fontana.
Joseph came here at the age of 3. He lived his youth in Hamilton until 1981 when he moved to Calgary to join his sister Clara Angelini. Together they established a number of successful hair salons.
Joseph has always had a big heart, a pure soul and a wonderful zest for life. He will be greatly missed by us all. Rest in peace our dearest Joseph.
Visitation will take place at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Tuesday, May 24th from 6-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, May 25th at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. Donations can be made to the Diabetes Association or The Kidney Foundation
