With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother/Nana/G.G., Janet Diamond McKechnie (nee Duncan), who peacefully left us on August 22, 2024, at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, after a heroic battle with cancer.Janet was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on June 15, 1940. She was known for her kindness, her famous red pepper jelly, shortbread cookies, her love of Rummoli, traveling, her family and many friends. She will be forever remembered by her children, Deborah (Don), Frances, and John (Eileen); her grandchildren Wes (Shelley), Julian (Amanda), Duncan, Jonna (Jon), Melanie (Braeden), and Jimmy (Anna); and her great-grandchildren Wallace, Bruce, Jakobe, Mateo, Kaya, Elliot, and Austin. She will be deeply missed by her brother, Allan Duncan (Betty), as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends, and the Steps dance family.We take great comfort in knowing that our Mother is reunited with the love of her life our father John McKechnie, along with her parents, siblings and many dear family and friends. She will forever be our Dancing Queen.
Visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home on Thursday, August 29th from 2-4 & 5:30-8pm followed by a funeral service on Friday, August 30th at 11am in the chapel. Interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the medical staff at Juravinski Hospital (C3) and Hamilton General Hospital Stroke Rehab for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) would be appreciated.
