A Mother holds her child’s hand for just a short time, but she holds their heart-forever
Always a Hamiltonian (b March 8, 1917) and the youngest of three siblings, Mom lived in the home that she and dad and her father built throughout 1944-1945; the home in which she remained until March 20, 2012. Mom was first a member of Livingston United, then St. Eugene’s Parish, and later, Incarnation of Our Blessed Lord, Roman Catholic Church. Mom grew up on William Street and attended Robert Land and Wentworth Street schools. Predeceasing Mom are her husband Edward Joseph Ward (1977), her brother John A.W. Sinclair (1997) and his wife Verna C. Brown (1996), her sister Leah Edith (1968), and her parents Archibald Sinclair (1886-1955) and Tillie Walker (1884-1965). Also predeceased by her infant daughter (1960), her great niece Barbara Lynn (1973) and her nephew Earl George (1954).
Mom dearly loved Dad and their large extended north-end Ward family (Christopher Ward and Lavina Arbour, Daniel Ward and Jennie McNeil, Anne Ward and Roy Cunningham, John Patrick Ward, Thomas Ward, Catharine Ward and Joseph Bothen, Andrew Ward, Mary Ellen Ward and Alvin Fuller, Martin Ward, Agnes Ward, Teresa Rosella Ward and Michael Ward).
Mom loved her home and garden, her church, her wonderful and caring neighbours and her dear friends at Eastgate Square. Now, Mom shall continue to be held in our hearts-forever: daughter Sharron and her husband Gregory Frosina, son Edward John (Ted), nephew Albert Sinclair and his wife Brenda Hills (parents of John Sinclair and Lisa Dermentjian); by her grandchildren Joanne and her husband Marty (Hallas), Cathy and her husband Steve (Szeideman), Teresa Frosina and Kevin Iacoucci and Joseph E. Frosina; by her great-grandchildren Ryan and Sara Szeideman; her brother-in-law Bernard Ward and his wife Anne (Korosil). Also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Our family is very grateful to the many health care professionals the made Mom’s life these past few months comforting: Dr. Opie, the General and Henderson/Juravinski Hospitals, Caroline Place, Bayshore PSW’s, CCAC and St. Joseph’s Villa (Dundas).
Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Sunday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm with Vigil Prayers at 7:30pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Incarnation of Our Blessed Lord Roman Catholic Church (Barton at Nash) on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 9am. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Mom can be made to the St. Joseph’s Villa Foundation or to the charity of your choice.
God’s Garden
God looked around His garden,
And found an empty space.
He then looked down upon his earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you,
And lifted you to rest;
God’s garden must be beautiful-
He only takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain;
He knew that you would never find peace
Upon this earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed his your weary eyelids,
And whispered
“Peace be thine”
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
