May you be blessed with the memories of Dave. I know that I am.

Although my discovery of Dave's passing comes well after the fact,  his memory during our formative years is imprinted forever.
During our high school days Dave aka "the Sheik" was a close buddy who many times spearheaded our adventures.
Our motorcycles were often an essential component in our activities but of course seasonally adjusted to  cars and not to forget the boats.
I know we pushed things to the limits frequently.
 Dave enjoyed turning up the volume on "Ozzy Osbourne " etc.  
We had  wild times making  fun wherever we were    be it in Ancaster or  at the cottages or wherever our travels took us.
I am certain we tested his brother Fraser, sister Liz ,  Dr.Louis and Mrs.Shein's patience regularly  but Dave loved his family .
Our capers were always with the intention of fun .
 Dave was peace loving. It was a time of respectful rebellion.   It was the sixties and seventies.
   It was a great time with Dave.

I just found out from my friend big jim that my other half in high school left us all ... way back in the fall of 2020.
There aren't enough words to describe those great years.
Gratitude to his mom for those yummy lunchtime sandwiches.
We were in our happy place: throughout the  hatchback days ,
the maroon Mercury ex-Magill convertible days , the motorcycle  days,
and beyond.
Cottage country ?
Wow. The best.
His & ours.
and then after going out to the west coast everything vanished.
I had hoped to get to Fairholt in 2020 but the world did not allow it. All that's left are the memories.
They were the best.
Condolences to the Shein family.


The first memory that comes to mind is the wedding of David and Lorraine on Lorraine’s birthday. David’s dad officiated; it was a beautiful day in Dundas, Ontario, if my memory is correct. Over the decades we kept in touch and enjoyed many visits. We cherish the conversations with David—wise, philosophical and other-worldly. We will miss this. 
Another memory is a visit from David and Lorraine to our home in Toronto. It was before Christmas and all together we strung popcorn and cranberries for the tree. It was a working visit—David helped paint a downstairs room, too. The room needs repainting—sorry David will not be available to help.
In more recent years we enjoyed going out for a feast at Wimpy’s, one of their favorite restaurants. It was an outing we all looked forward to for food, laughter and friendship time together. 
Eternal is the memory of David. Our sincere sympathies to Lorraine and the Shein family.

Hello Elizabeth
I have wondered frequently over the years how you were and remember our friendship.  I'm so sorry to catch up with you over the sad occasion of your brother's death.  It is never easy to lose a loved one.  All the best to you and your family....stay strong and comfort one another....

I have memories of David from our teenage years in Ancaster when I was a close friend of David's sister, Liz.  David drove a motorcycle.  He was cool!

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Lorraine and Margaret.

I have many good memories Of David & Lorraine. They were always so happy together they were a great couple! I remember especially when my daughter Ivana was born David was so happy and excited and he drew up a horoscope chart for her. I will miss him.


David was a free spirit, a person who grew to love other people, and a willing teacher of life in his own interpretation.

On the practical side of his abilities, David loved working with his hands and with people. At Rainbow Ceramics, David learned carpentry, earning his 'ruler,' an ambition naming him a professional carpenter, as well became knowledgeable in all of the management facilities, driving the van to destinations such as Toronto and Mississauga to pick up shipments. David began this paid position at the finishing department, where the workers sanded down the bisques, getting them ready to be fired, as well, David knew how to work the pouring of molds and firing up the 2 kilns.

David made many happy acquaintances and friends at Rainbow, and he was sad when the shop closed down. On the other hand, he then had more time to spend with me when we spoke well into the nights, only to begin conversations again in the topics of astrology, psychology, metaphysics, and art and music. David played the bongo drums and was an avid listener of New Age music, especially 'Tangerine Dream.' David was delving into the creative world of art, producing more than a dozen paintings of which he was very proud. 

Upon talking with David regarding his approaching death that was brought on by smoking, he said that he wanted to have people see him as an "honest citizen," because he did quit smoking at the beginning of his entry into the hospitals growing onto to 6 months, and most of all, he wanted his family he know that he "loved them," and that "they meant the world to him".

He was a true gift for me, his best friend and wife Lorraine, because we met 35 years ago and had been married for 33 of them, and we had a very special atypical marriage. The secret to the longevity of our relationship was all we truly asked of one another was to be "honest". I'd do it all over again and wouldn't change a thing. Love, popeye

When David was well, he loved the family cottage in Muskoka. Built in 1955, it was built by the local loggers using the original white pine from the area. He used to sit by the dock beside the two birch trees (also deceased), where his wife, Lorraine, painted a loving portrait of him back in 1985, which also captured the essence of the cottage and the surrounding area.

I have wonderful memories of travelling to Wood Lake with the three of us riding in David's VW.
We always had a great time together,waterskiig,playing games and eating KD and Velveta grill cheese late at night after our many antics around the Lake.
David loved his fast 18 hp overpowered aluminum boat,and I will never forget one night we pulled into the dock late...and there was Louis standing on the dock with his flashlight.
I remember David's big smile.

Dear Elizabeth, Margaret, Lorraine, Mariah, Fraser, and Family:
    My thoughts and condolences are with you. It’s sad and difficult to witness the struggle and premature passing of a loved one❤️. 
     In acknowledging mental health issues, I believe you are significantly helping to diminish the stigma that still seems to linger in our society.  Mental health challenges are only a part of a person and do not define the whole person 💐.

Remembering David today...gone too soon.  Lots of special memories from our younger days up at Wood Lake...especially how much he enjoyed boating. Our deep sympathy and sincere condolences to you Lorraine and the entire Shein family.
