Bruna Natalie Baldassi

Beloved mother of Bill (Valerie), Karen (the late Harry) and Joanne (Michael). Grandmother of Paul, Julie, Petra, Philip and Dominic. Great-grandmother of Rhys, Elliott, Daniel and River. Sister of Robert Mattiussi of Powell River, BC and the late Madge Adolph of Burnaby, BC. Aunt to many, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Enzo Baldassi in 2004, and son-in-law Harry Van Stiphout in 2019.

Bruna was a long-term employee of Sears and was an active member of the Ottawa Street YMCA Seniors program. Known for being quite social, she could talk up anyone at the bus stop and learn their life history before getting off the bus! After suffering a debilitating stroke in 2018, Mom entered Grace Villa Long Term Care Home and was one of the longest residents. True to her feisty self, Mom endured and survived a subsequent stroke, a hip replacement and COVID, in the 6 years she resided at Grace Villa; a true testament to her strength.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Villa Long Term Care Home for the care provided to Mom during her 6 years of residency.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 10-12 p.m. A chapel service will be held at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart and Stoke Foundation of Canada.
