I cherish our talks, her stories, and the ice cream we shared.  She will be missed.

Being the oldest grandchild I dubbed her Mom-mom.  I think she encouraged it as not to be called grandma.  I cant blame her becoming a grandmother at 39 and 11 months is a shock.  I always joked for one month she was only 39 years older then me and not 40 years. Her family was without a doubt the most important thing in her life.  Each of her grandchildren will tell you she was always there for us. She did live many places, but Florida was her favorite.  If you have ever heard of someone being someone's true North.  She was my true South.  When I was down or just needed to get away, I would be south bound to Dunedin.  I can only hope that I will be that same grandparent to my grandchildren.

We are very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing.  One of my special memories is of her telling stories about her family growing up - skating on the frozen lake and the one with the rocking chair spinning on the ice.  She was a master story teller and will be missed by her friends and family.  Blessings and prayers to all of you.

First time we think of Vera without smiling. We are sad in Ireland tonight to learn of the passing of our dear friend Vera. 
We enjoyed it when she came to visit with Joan and also when we visited her and Barney in Florida. She introduced our 2 year old daughter to 'Lucky Charms' for breakfast! We can now get those in Ireland and every time a bowl is poured we talk about Vera. 
Sincere sympathy to you all on your great loss. As we say in Irish 'ni bheidh a leitead ann aris' which translates roughly as 'there was only one of her kind'.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your mother, Joan. We are praying for you...blessings for your family.

My mom was a caring, strong, independent woman and taught all of us to be the same. She was proud of her Irish heritage and I had the pleasure of visiting Ireland with her twice! She enjoyed telling stories of her family going back to the early 1800s. She is loved and will be remembered by her family who are already telling these stories. They also have their memories which some have entered in the guest book. So read and enjoy and you will fall in love with her through their memories.

I was fortunate enough to have both of my Great grandmas throughout my entire life thus far. My Mom Mom passed away today, and the earth lost a real life angel. I love you forever.

I was so lucky to have my mom mom until I was 50. She was the heart and strength of our family❤  I will miss her everyday of my life. All the stories of us kids she would tell. All the stories of our past and hers. Her laugh and her strong shoulder. The world has become less bright without her in it.

I remember the time I was staying With Mom Mom and Grandpa Del and he closed himself in the tv room by closing the glass sliding doors. When Mom Mom came home I was beating on the sliding doors trying to get in. Fun times.

Prayers for my family we lost a wonderful woman tonight. My momom. She will be missed she was a beautiful woman

I'm not one to post much but my heart is breaking and yet so full. We were so blessed to have such a wonderful woman in our lives for so many years. Today the world lost an amazing woman, and my family lost a piece of our heart. She is the reason I love the ocean, the reason for my creepy doll in my house (for those of you that have seen or heard about it you know what I'm talking about), she is also the reason I will not settle for less than I deserve in life and the reason our family is so awesome. Mommom I will never forget you, I will continue to tell your stories that we heard a million times, and most importantly I will hold the memories I have of you forever in my heart. Not many people get to have almost 30yrs with their great grandmother, and even more rare 9 and 12 yrs with their GREAT GREAT grandmother, we have been so blessed to have you around. Love you forever, until we see you again! ❤

Last night a bright light in the universe went out, but only for a moment, and now she shines even more brightly in the heavens.

At 7:20, as I was en route from Orlando to Ohio to see her one last time, my kind, hilarious, wise and witty grandma (who we all knew as 'Mom-Mom') slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced into eternity.

I'm so blessed to have had her as a steadfast presence in my nearly 50 years of life on this planet, and her wit and wisdom and unique sense of humor will be a constant source of guidance. She's with us always.

I love you Mom-Mom.

When I was in early grade school I cut my hand on a broken coke bottle. It was a Saturday morning and she was very busy in her beauty salon, so I was reluctant to go and tell her. We did not have a hospital in the small town we lived in, so She took me to the doctor's office, I had to have sutures, but  the area did not numb, so I screamed every time they did a stitch. She passed out.


Patrick McKinney Lessons from a matriarch:
-Movie night was a home movie projector that gave us a glimpse of the generation before us.
-Staying up late to see an eclipse or walking the beach to explore what treasures the sea washed ashore taught us to see beauty in the natural world. 
-Playing in the pool or simple games in the house taught us to find joy in each other. 
-An open door and a generous heart for any friend, spouse or child that we happened to show up with taught us that family always has room for one more.
-Caring for her husband and brother well after the point where she herself needed to be cared for taught us that we never retire from loving those we care about. 
-Joyfully and at the same time patiently waiting for death taught us to live this life by faith, and by faith eagerly enter the presence of Jesus for eternity.

I remember learning my rosary praying on my knees on the kitchen floor!!!! Thanks to my loving brothers sterling personalities! And that the black flakes added to every salad was not seasoning! Bowels were always very regular....lol I also remember she always washed me in sink. Said I fit prefect! And sang sweet lelanie on the piano to me! Saying I was a beautiful Hawaiian

We celebrate the home going of our beautiful Mother/Grandmother/ Great  Grandmother/ and great great Grandmother  of 95 and 1/2 years. She is a strong and caring woman. She was born in Baltimore MD and then her family moved to Massachusetts. She also lived in Texas, Kentucky,Pennsylvania,Ohio, and Florida. She traveled through many areas of the US. and enjoyed camping .She was a Cosmetologist in Pennsylvania and Ohio for many years. She has a daughter, Joan who is a Cosmetologist, and a grand daughter, and three great grand daughters. It runs in the family. Her son Roger is a Mortician and her daughter Pearl is a Radiology and ultrasound tech. We all had a lot of great times with her.
