Vera (Dunphy) Barnickle, age 95, is “home going” on February 1, 2017. Although she was born in Baltimore, MD her many stories of growing up were in Massachusetts. In 1945 she received her cosmetology license. Vera owned and operated a beauty salon in Pennsylvania before moving to Ohio where over the years she owned several salons and managed Carousel Beauty College. In 1976 she and her late husband, Delbert, moved to Dunedin, Florida. At the age of 60 she became a Certified Nurse Aid and was a private duty aid until age 75. During this time she lovingly cared for her clientele and patients. Vera loved being with her family and liked traveling, camping, dancing, telling stories of her family and growing up, and researching and going to Ireland to work on the family genealogy. As a dear Irish friend of hers said, “ni bheidh a leitead ann aris” which translates roughly as “there was only one of her kind”. She will be greatly missed by her children Joan (Don) Fisher, Pearl (George) Guilliams, and Roger (Deborah) McKinney; grandchildren Douglas Fisher, Kevin Fisher, Kim (Todd) Lutz, Chan (Ritchard) Ton, Travis Winkler, Geoy (Foya) Guilliams, Brent McKinney, Patrick (Michelle) McKinney, Maria Bennett; great-grandchildren Chad (Andrea) Fisher, Mandy (Justin) Peters, Katy Fisher, Rachel Fisher, Shelby Lutz, Emily Lutz, Sydney Lutz, Jesse (Amanda) Ton, Zachary Ton, Emily Ton, Megan McKinney, Daniel (Amanda) McKinney, Emily McKinney, Christian Bennett, Breanna Bennett, Bailey Bennett and great-great-grandchildren Pyper, Pearl, Phoebe, Isabella, Lexi, Autumn, Cameron, Audrey and Jase. Visitation to celebrate her life will be on Sunday, February 19 from 2pm until 4pm at Webb-Noonan-Kidd Funeral Home, 204 Ross Avenue, Hamilton, OH. Vera’s interment will be in her beloved FL at the convenience of her family.
