Reed Owens, age 91, of Hamilton, died on Friday, January 6, 2012, at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born in Corbin, Kentucky, on February 18, 1920, the son of the late Milton and Laura (Shelton) Owens. Reed married Anna V. (Dunaway) Owens and she preceded him in death in 1968. Reed was a Drum Operator for Champion Papers retiring in 1982. He was a WWII Army Veteran and recipient of a Bronze Star, a Kentucky Colonel and a lifetime member of the American Legion. Reed is survived by his son, Roger (Joyce) Owens; two daughters, Loreeda Bloomfield and Sharon Botos; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Carpenter and Geraldine Peacock; nieces and nephews. Reed was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Lillie (Peasley) Owens who raised him from the time he was three years old; four brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton, at 1:30pm on Monday, January 9, 2012. Interment will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held prior to the service from 12noon to 1:30pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Hamilton, 1010 Eaton Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
