Age 70, was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on July 13, 1941, to James Edward and Hope (McRoberts) Fowler, the eldest of four children. He was baptized by the late Reverend Hunt at Ross Avenue Church of God. Following graduation from Taft High School in 1959, Ron was awarded a full athletic (gymnastics) scholarship and attended Indiana University and Wright State University. In 1961, he wed his college sweetheart, Theresa Stricklett, bearing two children: Lisa Kay and Edward Scott. Then on September 1, 1972, Ron married his soul mate, Patricia Anne Young of Hamilton. They parented Nathaniel T. Woods. Ron was employed by General Motors, Dayton, retiring in 2000 after 32 years. He loved reading, playing the guitar, and attending enriching activities and events. A very devoted compassionate family man, Ron was kind, friendly, knowledgeable and unselfishly giving, not only of himself, but of all that he had. Ron loved the Lord, led by example and had a delightful sense of humor – ah…the luck of the Irish! Ron passed this earthly life suddenly on Tuesday evening, May 8, 2012. His father preceded him in death. Left to cherish Ron’s wonderful memory are his loving wife, Patricia; his mother, Hope Fowler; son, Scott Fowler; daughter, Lisa Barnett; Nate Woods; sister, Hope Roberts; two brothers, Ed and Tom Fowler; four grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, Harli and Sabrina; daughter-in-law, Debbie Woods; cousins; several other family members; and numerous friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton, at 1pm on Monday, May 14, 2012, with Dr. Jim Menninger officiating and music by Audrey Mitchel. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Family and friends will be received prior to the service from 11am-1pm at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, 30 LaSalle Street, Suite 2600, Chicago, IL 60602-3356 or World Vision, PO Box 78481, Tacoma, WA 98481.
