Ida Lou Lockhart, a woman whose journey began on November 29, 1937, and whose light was unexpectedly dimmed on December 16, 2024 at Kettering Health Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio. Born and raised in Burke County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Aaron Rhodes Sr. and Julia Anderson. Ida was nurtured in a loving Christian home by Lula Rhodes (Aaron Sr.) whom she lovingly referred to as momma. From a young age, her faith was an anchor in her life. She was a proud member of Murphy Ebenezer Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Georgia, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, a decision that shaped her walk through life. She later attended First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia. She remained a faithful tither throughout her life. Ida was a loving and kind-spirited wife, mother, and friend who never met a stranger. She was licensed as a cosmetologist and worked within the foster care system in New York. She received various accolades for her work in foster care. She had a heart for service and owned and ran a flea market that provided items for those less fortunate. She loved throwing her reel into the water to fish. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Lockhart; sons, Wilson Brown and James Milton Brown; and daughter, Terra Lou Lockhart. She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted sons, Carl Brown and Shawn Lockhart of Hamilton, Ohio; devoted daughter, Gail (Andre) Eakins of Douglasville, Georgia; brother, Aaron (Lynette) Rhodes of Hephzibah, Georgia; 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; and her daughter-in-Christ, Chontee Mitchell. A Private Family Service will be held. Condolences may be left for the family at www.Webb-Noonan.com
