Yorke moved to Toronto in the mid 60’s to pursue a career in business. He earned his CPA/CMA designation and for the next 30 years enjoyed success in various executive positions within the transportation industry. While in Toronto he met June, convinced her to marry him in 1971 and became a loving father to three children he cherished. Yorke and June moved to Nova Scotia in the 90’s where he joined the management team at Acadian Lines.Following his time there he became a partner in a property management company, while continuing to offer accounting services.
He enjoyed both a professional and personal relationship with the Senior Management and staff of the Halifax Mooseheads for many years and was particularly pleased to accompany the team during its Memorial Cup Championship win in Saskatoon in 2013.
He was a long-standing member of Oakfield Golf and Country Club and a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda O’Flaherty (John Stratigeas), Burlington, ON; son, Allan O’Flaherty (Andrea Parliament), Burlington, ON; brothers, Ron (Jackie) O’Flaherty, Hubbards, Dan (Lynda) O’Flaherty, Sackville; grandsons, Matthew and Marshall Ilcio, Toronto, ON and Taylor O’Flaherty, Victoria, BC; niece, Shani Pearson, Oslo, Norway; nephews, Sean O’Flaherty, Sackville, Ryan O’Flaherty(Amy), Sackville, Michael O’Flaherty (Lisa Cameron) Halifax, Jeff O’Flaherty ( Sara) Melissa ,Texas, Todd Pearson ( Deb ) Ottawa; and special aunt, Sister Virginia Deal (SC), Halifax. He was predeceased by his wife, June (Taylor) O’Flaherty; son, Martin O’Flaherty; sister, Maureen Pearson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday February 26, 2023 from 2-5pm in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral Mass will be on Monday February 27, 2023 at 12:15pm in Saint Benedict Church, 45 Radcliffe Drive, Halifax. Family remembrances and reception will follow.
