POTTIE (King), “Winnie” Winnifred Gertrude – 86, of Lr Sackville, NS. – passed away peacefully in her sleep with her daughter Judi and daughter-in-law, Debbie by her side on Saturday, May 14, 2011 after 21 long days at the QEII Hospital. Winnie was the youngest daughter of the late Hezakiah “Billy” King and Amelia (Deere) King. Winnie is survived by her Sisters: Ruby Chymist (Robert), Lockeport, NS and Ida Langley-Farrow (Jim), Moncton, NB. Daughters: Brenda Demers (Maurice), Quebec; Marilyn Meunier (Ken), Dartmouth; Carolyn Dominie (Albert), Dartmouth; Judelyn (Judi) Ferguson (Stephen Hames) Mount Uniacke, NS. Sons: Garrie Gordon Cook (Debbie) Spryfield, NS and “Tony” Anthony Harold Cook, Lr. Sackville, NS: Grandchildren: Brandon Ferguson (Lesley); Adam Cook; Angela Dufour (Jules); Bradley Meunier (Krystina); Andrea McKay (Jeff); Carol, Christine, and Danielle. Great-grandchildren: Hayden Robert Ferguson, Olivia Melanie Ferguson, Colby McKay, Amelia Doris Meunier. Many cousins, nephews and nieces. Her two life-long best friends Mary Dwyer and “Rae” Rachael Lomas. Mom loved to knit and crochet. She loved and grew the best African violets. Mom loved hummingbirds, butterflies, budgie birds and her 2 dogs ChiChi and BAN-chi (2010) buried with the love of her life “Chuck”. She loved Michael Jackson and had met him in person in the Bahamas in 1973 along with the entire Jackson family.
Predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Melanie Rae Ferguson; Two sisters - Marie Graham (George), Vancouver, BC and Marjorie Scott (Freeman), Lockeport, NS. Predeceased by her husbands: Charles “Chuck” Pottie (2000) and Gordon Arnold Cook (1985).
A service to celebrate Winnie’s life will be held at 1:00 on Thursday, May 19th, 2011 at Knox United Church – 567 Sackville Drive, Lr. Sackville, NS – Rev. Ross Bartlett officiating.
