It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wendy Ann Wells, age 72, on July 7, 2022, at Melville Gardens. Wendy was a mother, a sister, a grandmother, and a friend to all. She was strong in her battle against cancer, never giving up and always doing what she could for her family.
Wendy was a stay-at-home mom from 1975, and ran an in-home daycare for 25 years. She returned to work for the Federal Government, until her retirement.
When her children were young, Wendy volunteered as a Beaver Leader with Scouts Canada. She then moved on to become a Brownie Leader with Girl Guides of Canada. During her time with Girl Guides, she was District Commissioner, Cookie Convener and Camp Advisor.
Wendy was heavily involved in her church, St. Andrews Anglican, for over 40 years. Her many roles over the years included, Lay Reader, Secretary of Parish Council, President of the Ladies Group, Member of Spiritual Development, Warden, Chair of Ways and Means, Sunday School Superintendent, Nursery Coordinator, reading Roster Coordinator, Member of Choir, and she produced the weekly bulletins.
Wendy's hobbies included sewing when her children were young, knitting, reading and collecting books, and collecting penguins. She loved spending time with her immediate and extended family during holidays and summer family picnics. Wendy's famous stuffing recipe will be greatly missed by all. Wendy also loved cats, especially her two companions, Riley and Molly.
Wendy is survived by her sisters Stephanie LeBlanc and Jennifer (David) Greene, her brother Peter (Kim) Hibberd, brother in-law John Seaton, children Christopher (Meena) Wells of England, Kevin (Jolene Wright) Wells of Fox Point, Kimberley (Charles) Branton of Timberlea, her grandchildren, Kurt, Nickolas, Jayden, Joshua, Logan, India, Maia, her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her church family, especially the ladies of the Ladies Group.
Wendy was pre-deceased by her parents William and Dora Hibberd, sisters Corinne Seaton and Ruth Watts, brother's in-law George LeBlanc and Don Watts, former husband and the father of her children Myril Wells, parent's in-law Cyril and Alma Wells, her best friend and soul mate Heather Mott.
We would like to thank the amazing staff at Melville Gardens for the wonderful care our mother received during the short time she was with them. Mom, we hope you are at peace now.
Visitation will be held at JA Snows Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive on Thursday, July 14, 2022, 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.
