Age 80, of Halifax, passed away Saturday, April 1 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre after a brief stay in the CCU. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Cmdr. Andrew Headley and Gertrude May Dobson. He grew up in Halifax, attending Queen Elizabeth High School and then went on to Dalhousie University where he earned his medical degree and was a star basketball player. His love of travel took him all over the world leading him to meet the love of his life, Carolyn Jean (Perry) in Australia. Together they continued to travel until she predeceased him in 2007. He retired from the Workers Compensation Board having spent 30 rewarding years practicing occupational medicine. Tom loved to sail and one of his great accomplishments was participating in the Boston – Halifax Marblehead Race. He is survived by his children Catharine, Elmsdale; Thomas (Heather) Stillwater Lake; Grandchildren, Kayla, Sarah, Andrew and Maxwell. His brother in-law Michael MacDonald of Edmonton; his nieces Nancy, Barbara, Eve and Sarah. He was predeceased by his sister Carolyn. Cremation has taken place and as per his wishes there will be a small family gathering to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, we ask that any donations be made to the SPCA as he had a true love of animals.
