She was the daughter of the late Walter and Katherine (Larisey) McKay.
Teresa was a consummate homemaker and mother to all. Her life was dedicated to her children and the home. She nurtured everyone who came into her house. Neighbours and her children’s friends were drawn to her for talk, music, and all-around sustenance. She was very curious about life, people, psychology, and everything going on in the world. She was progressive, very interested in children’s education, and was a teacher to her children and her grandchildren. She played piano and sang and loved to dance, and hosted many family gatherings and parties.. She loved a “good strong cup of tea”, especially with toast. Teresa had a generous and joyful spirit and was always ready for a good laugh. She loved going to the gardens with her best friend Frances, especially to see the Dahlias in the fall.
Survived by her husband, Terence Joseph Ahern; daughters Aileen and Nanci,
sons Michael, Brian, and Patrick ,sister Mickey Small, brother Jim McKay.
Grandchildren Shannon, Meghann, and Tessa, Great-grandchildren Raiden, Prudence, and Percival Teresa was predeceased by son Peter, sisters Joyce, Katherine, Aileen, Dorothy, brothers Sandy and Arthur
A memorial gathering will be held Monday, December 16, 2013, from 2-4pm at Cruikshanks Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax.
