Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia she was the daughter of the late Alice (Forrest) and the late Archibald McNeil.
Sandra was an immensely proud wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and very loyal to her friends and family alike. Those that dared to challenge that fact would be soon met with a side of her that she rarely displayed. She is survived by her husband Danny. Inseparable since they were married. They enjoyed so much together, and this bond took them to many tropical locations over the years or simply next door to play cards. Sandra and Danny were often the source of each other’s frustrations, but they were fooling no one because they were also the source of so much joy and love for each other. Sandra will live on in Danny and her family and friends’ hearts.
A large piece of Sandra’s heart died when she tragically lost her son Jason when he was 17, almost 20 years ago. Her heart remained strong and held more than enough love for her children and grandchildren. She did her absolute best to show them her love always. A true family woman who was always there to help her family. She would readily be available to hem some jeans, watch her grandchildren play hockey or baseball, babysit, or to kick some butt playing washer toss with her second family at the Plantation Campground. Danny was often the victim of her washer toss skills. The stories could go on forever and the common theme would be ‘love’. Sandra had such an impact on all those that knew her, and it will be a long time before the hurting gets easier.
Sandra is also survived by her cherished children: Troy (Alaina), Charlene (Andy) MacFarlane and Candace (Mark) Fyfe all within HRM. Sandra is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Caitlin, Mitchell, Nathan, Mathew, Thomas and Josh and by 1 great-grandchild Jackson. Also survived by her sister Louise (Roy) Rogers. Sandra is also survived by her brother-in-law’s Ed (Trish) Snow and Stephen (Linda) Snow and many nieces and nephews.
Sandra was predeceased not only by her parents and son Jason but also by sister Soney Murphy and 3 brothers: Fred McNeil, Art McNeil and Roy McNeil.
Cremation will take place in trust with Snow’s Funeral Home. A service will be held at a later date where a service of worship will take place. Following the service, Sandra will join Jason at the Sunrise Cemetery in Hatchett Lake, NS.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandra’s memory to the Heart, Kidney or Cancer Foundations. Special thanks to the staff of the ICU teams at the QEII Hospital where Sandra was cared for.
