He was a very proud father, grandfather, and a faithful husband for 49 years. Known as “Poppy” by not only his natural grandchildren, also by the daycare kids and at Elizabeth Sutherland School. He will be missed and always remembered by many.
His kindness and sincerity was felt by all who knew him. Always ready to give a ride, run an errand, help a senior or lend a hand. Don’t forget Laura’s coffee!
Never a hesitation about setting an early alarm to get his girls to and from appointments, a friend to a doctor’s appointment or to the airport. Stay all night if needed. Always putting himself last. What are we gonna do without him?
Did I say he was a proud father? You bet! He taught Angela and Robert everything that was good in him. Respect, morals, kindness, charisma, and self-confidence. He demanded an education. That was their job. And they lived up and even surpassed all of his expectations. Angela loved to learn. Affectionately known as a professional student and a world traveler. Oh! The long distance phone charges while she backpacked through Europe. Not surprisingly, she married an Aussie, and made Australia her 2nd home.
Proud dad walked her down the aisle, then again there at the birth of her sons. Only regret was distance. The physical contact with her and her boys was difficult. We made the best of it with her visits home and thank God for Skype.
Robert and Ron had a great bond from little league to present day. Also well educated, a hard-working father and husband. We call him “mini Ron”. He is so proud of you too. Never a disappointment. He loves you both so much.
Ron worked at Eastern Film Lab for 10+ years. For 27 years he worked at CFB Halifax in food services. He was well known and liked throughout the city. You always knew who you were dealing with.
He was a Leafs fan as well as a Redskins fan. Every sport was of interest to him. He loved to play poker and pool, but his talent was snooker. He was an original member of “Metro Pool League” receiving his senior’s award, Fairview Legion 2012-2013.
The past 11 years have been his finest, the birth of his first grandchild now a proud poppy of 4. His retirement the past 5 years have been devoted to his grandchildren and his world revolved around his family. He made more memories than most have made in a lifetime. Others would do well to take a page out of his book.
We love and miss you Ron Walsh XOXO
