Glencross, Richard Cail “Dick”-78, of Halifax passed away March 9 at the QE II Halifax Infirmary. Born in Rexton, NB he was the son of the late Robert and Sarah Glenncross. Dick worked with the railroad for 33 ½ years, serving communities in New Brunswick, PEI, and Nova Scotia. One of Dick’s favorite times of the year was in August when he and his family all got together to spend time in Rexton at a cottage by the ocean. Family was very important to Dick and if he wasn’t with them in person, he was talking to them on the phone. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do to help them. Another favorite pastime of Dick’s was watching Formula One car races. He and his boys, along with other family and friends would get together and have a great time, and it was even better when they saw a race in person. Dick and the love of his life, June served in the Seniors Ministry of Faith Tabernacle Church for many years, where Dick also served as custodian. Whether in the church or the community at large, Dick loved and enjoyed serving others. He will be missed by family and friends alike, but we know that he is with the Lord. He is survived by his wife, June (Weatherbie); sons, Alan (Patricia), Dartmouth, Danny, Halifax, and Donald (Jillian), Lake Echo; grandchildren, Jason, Shawn, Laura, Kelsea, Rowan, Cooper and Darcy. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of 8.1 at the Halifax Infirmary and to Laurie Simpson for all their help. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A memorial service will take place 2 pm Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Faith Tabernacle Church. Rev. John Cheyne and Rev. Sheila MacDonald officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Faith Tabernacle Church or the Canadian Cancer Society. To view or place an online message of condolence please visit www.jasnowfuneralhome.com
