Born in New Glasgow, NS he was the son of Alexander Fraser and J. Katherine Cameron Fraser.
Dick was a 1948 graduate of Dalhousie Medical School. He spent his early years in the medical field as a General Practitioner in the USA then went on to specialize as an Anesthesiologist for the remaining 30 years of his medical career. Dick was interested in many sports and enjoyed playing hockey, golf, tennis, badminton, skiing, and many others. His hobbies included everything from real estate development to boating to photography. He lived in Portsmouth, RI during the 1960’s – 1980’s while raising his family and working nearby. Dick moved back to Nova Scotia to enjoy 40 years of active retirement, living and working on a farm during many of those years. He was an avid bridge player and participated in advanced online bridge games well past 100 years of age. Dick will be remembered lovingly by his family for his long-lived intellect, his diverse interests, his sense of humor, and getting his very first speeding ticket at the age of 98.
Survived by sons David Fraser of Middletown, RI USA and Robert Fraser of Middletown, RI USA and daughter Kathryn Easterbrook of Forest, VA USA;
Five Grandchildren: Shanon Fraser, Kerri Easterbrook, Kristen Easterbrook, Kathryn T. Easterbrook, and Brett Fraser; and one Great-Grandchild: Alysia Fraser.
Dick is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Simmonds Fraser and his companion for the past decade, Darlene Hotchkis.
