Born in Rockingham, he was the son of the late Alan and Helen (Bourque) Melanson.
Employed by CN for 37 years, he retired as General Yard Master. A member of the R.C. Legion, Bedford, Ray enjoyed sports having played Hockey in Suburban League for 16 years.
He always enjoyed going back to the camp with the fellows. He also enjoyed traveling and gardening.
Ray had a great sense of humour and was always happy to do someone a favour.
Survived by Gwen, his devoted wife of 53 years; brother, Bill (May); sisters-in-law, Vivian MacDougall, Dorothy, Shirley, Isabel Melanson. Predeceased by his sisters, Sr. Helen Cormier S.C., Mary Marr, Margaret Conrad; brothers, Donald, Alan, Tilmon, Paul, and Eddy.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6 at 1:30 pm in Saint Benedict Parish, 45 Radcliff Dr. Interment at a later date with private committal.
