Dear Mrs. Gupta, Sunita, and family,

I was saddened to hear of R.P.'s passing. My deepest condolences to you.  R.P. ran the Dal/BEA Math Camp, out of the Dalhousie Math department, for about 25 years. The camp has inspired a generation of African Nova Scotian students. Teaching in the camp over the years I came to know R.P. and saw the dedication and care he put into organizing the camp. The best way I can honour his memory is to keep the camp running with the same level of dedication that he put into it.

Respected Chachiji, Dear Anita, Sanjay, Anil & Sunita,
We are deeply saddened to hear about sudden loss of our beloved chacha ji. We express our heartfelt condolences to this untimely demise. We pray to the almighty God that he finds place in heaven. We also pray that God gives strength to bear this loss. 
I and Geeta have lots of fond memories of him while we lived in Canada. I can't forget what he has done for us. I will always be thankful to him and all of you. He will be always there in our memories. He has provided strength to our family when we needed the most.

I have many fond memories of RP. He was a great leader and always found a way to make everyone around him smile and laugh.  I'm not able to attend tomorrow as it is  my Dad's 80 birthday. 
I will think of you all gathering to reflect on a wonderful colleague, father, husband, and human being.

Dearest Gupta Family,

Auntie and I were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your father. He was a wonderful person and a cherished friend to our family for over 50 years. We have so many fond memories of him, from the times we spent together at Pujas and house parties to the times we supported each other through losses of family when we are so far from India. Your father always had a kind word, a warm smile, and a generous heart.

Please accept our heartfelt condolences and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I hope you find some comfort and peace in this difficult time. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

To the Gupta family, 

Dr. Gupta was a wonderful neighbour of ours, he was always full of joy and smiles. When we first moved to the neighbour hood he was the organizer of the Canada Day street party, which brought all the neighbours together. Everyone brought their favourite family dishes to the community table, what a fantastic way to meet the neighbours. Great job RP!!
        As a family, we were very sad to see the Gupta’s leave the street. My favourite memory is Dr. Gupta and my father talking politics in the driveway, they did this many times. It was always a pleasant conversation as they both wore the same political colours. 
      May he Rest In Peace and may your family take solace in a life well lived.

Dear Kamala and the family;
Our deepest sympathy about the departure of Dr. Gupta. He picked me up from the hotel in 1985 when I first came to Canada and since then treated me like his own daughter not merely as a student.  When I finished my Ph.D. never forget he and Kamala organized a big dinner party to celebrate my success at their house. Exemplary character with a kind heart.

The sparkle of your eyes, the brightness of your smile, and the goodness of your soul will always stay in our hearts because you were one gem of a person we had. Losing you is no doubt a significant loss to all of us. You will always be missed. Fate is beyond our control and letting you leave like that was the most challenging thing to happen. Though you are not with us anymore, we will always keep you alive in our talks, in our memories, in our hearts and in everything we share. Dearest Sanjay and Sita:
We were deeply saddened to hear about the loss of such an accomplished mathematician, professor, indian community activist,  father and grandfather.   Dr R. Gupta was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many.  His love, kindness and wisdom will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He graduated with a PhD in an era where many men in India did not even pursue degrees.  Moreover in Canada, he continued his academic success leaving a legacy in the mathematical world.   As a past professor emeritus of math at The University of Dalhousie, he will be remembered fondly by the numerous students he mentored, encouraged and shaped.  
He selflessly raised 4 children and 10 grandchildren while making a mark as a cutting edge researcher at Dalhousie publishing over 90 research papers and authoring mathematical textbooks and speaking at international conferences.  His talents were countless but his most pressing quality was his love for his family.  
Sanjay and Sita: we are truly sorry for your loss but we also know that you were so fortunate to have had such a loving father/father in law.    We see in both of  you your father's drive, compassion and success.  
Vishna, Varesh and Vania:  we are sorry that you lost your grandfather but we know that he will continue to be proud of the very mature and outstanding young individuals you have grown up to be.  
Please continue to celebrate his life daily reminiscing about the great things Dr Rajendra Gupta accomplished.  You will have some pretty tough shoes to fill! May Dr R Gupta rest in peace knowing how loved he really was.

It was with great sorrow that Hiya and I heard of RP's death. Unfortunately we'll be out of the country on the 19th and feel very badly we can't be there. RP was a fellow statistician for many years at Dal and both of us played a key role in building up the very strong Statistics group at Dal. I will certainly miss his warm smile and our conversations where we both shared the successes of our children and grandchildren.

Dear Gupta Family,

Although I did not ever meet Dr. RP Gupta in person,  I got to know him from  the stories that his daughter and my friend Anita shared with us over the years. My image of him is that of a scholarly gentleman and kind father who was a great role model for his children, grandchildren and others around him. Having lost my own mother to cancer recently and suddenly, I can relate to your sense of loss and share in your grief.
