Peter Fulton Fahie

Peter was born on March 1, 1943 to Donald and Patricia Fahie (Ryan) of Halifax, NS.

Having been born with Cerebral Palsy, Peter overcame many challenges throughout his life. He lived a good life surrounded by friends and family who loved him dearly. After the tragic premature death of his loving mother, he embraced his stepmother, Elizabeth (Betty) Fahie. In later years when Peter moved from the family home, he was very happy to be living among his friends and the caring staff of Oxford Street Residential Services.

He is survived by his sister Jean Frances Fahie (Stillwater Lake), brother Donald Robert Joseph Fahie (Audrey Fahie [Muir]) (Colby Village), niece Mary Elms (nee Fahie),grandnieces Rachel and Megan Elms, nephew Chris Fahie, grandnieces Alexa and Ella Fahie and brother Thomas Charles Fahie (LeeAnne Singer) (Hammonds Plains) and nieces Kelsey and Ali Fahie. Peter leaves behind many special cousins and maternal aunt Evelyn “Babe” MacDonald.

Known for his sense of humor, leadership, and kind soul, Peter thrived at family functions and in his home on Oxford Street.

As a youngster, getting out on the boat in East Ship Harbour and going to the Islands was always a treat. He loved to walk down to the Ardmore Tea Room on Quinpool Road to get a milkshake, loved walking around the city, and watching television. There were only two things that Peter really disliked, change and loud noises. Oh yes, and politicians.

In his down time, he enjoyed listening to country music and watching old Western movies. He always took a keen interest in new technology, and loved getting a new watch at Christmas time.

In his golden years, he loved being outdoors and would relish the time spent going on outings to the public gardens, the Halifax Central Library, and the Museum of Natural History. He liked to paint and took an interest in dinosaurs and his dog, Rover.

His ability to remember facts and news details amazed all of us. He could add information into most conversations. He knew how to make people laugh, he held the best chats, and to know him was to love him dearly.

Cremation has taken place and burial will be at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville.

We want to express our sincere appreciation to the Regional Residential Services Society and to the staff and residents of Oxford Street for their attention and devotion to Peter over the years. He could not have found a better group or place to call home.
