Devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, colleague and friend. He attended Halifax schools and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University in 1960. Son of the late Lydia (Barrett) and Leonard Crane, married to Nancy (Finn) on August 27, 1960 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. A local entrepreneur, Paul worked in economic development for the province of Nova Scotia in the 1960’s and went on to become Vice President of Cardinal Proteins. Paul owned and operated several local businesses including W.&A. Moir and Schooner Outfitting.
He was an avid sailor and long standing member of the Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, The Waegwoltic Club and Ashburn Golf Club. He served as board member for the Mount Saint Vincent University for many years and an active member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish. He enjoyed spending summers and weekends at his cottage in Seabright and exploring St. Margaret’s Bay aboard his boats Sea Pal and Solitude.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy (Finn), his three children, Deborah, Stephen (Judith Myers) and Jennifer (Peter Alward) as well as four grandchildren, Thomas, Natalie, Alexa and Theodore. Siblings: Ann Gillham (the late Michael Gillham), the late James (Evelyn), Robert, and Kathryn Thielan (Paul). Sister in law, Ruth Patey (the late Roger Patey) as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of the 3rd and 4th floors of Arborstone Nursing Home for their excellent care. Visitations will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home at 339 Lacewood Drive on Tuesday, June 5th, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Agnes Church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6th, with reception to follow in the church hall.
